Google Ads reports as PDF or PowerPoint: which format, and how to make each
Published ยท KeySend
Send a PDF when the client reads and files the report. Send a PowerPoint deck when the client presents it or edits it. Google Ads downloads statistics tables and dashboards as PDF. None of the Google tools or reporting platforms we checked in October 2026 showed a native PowerPoint export, so a deck takes an extra step. This guide shows both routes.
Choose the format from what the client does next
If you send both, mark one as the record, for example the PDF named with client, period and version. Then a slide edited by the client cannot become a second version of the truth.
| What the recipient does next | Better format | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Reads it alone and files it | Fixed pages, opens the same on any device, a clear record of what you sent | |
| Forwards it to an owner or finance | Nobody changes your numbers on the way | |
| Presents it in their own meeting | PowerPoint or Google Slides | They can drop slides, add their context and use their template |
| Combines it with other channels in one deck | PowerPoint or Google Slides | Editable charts and text |
| Discusses it with you on a call | Either | Share your screen; send the PDF as the record afterwards |
How to get a PDF out of Google Ads
Some third-party pages say Google Ads has no PDF export. Google's own help says otherwise. There are three native routes, and each gives a different kind of PDF.
- Statistics tables: on a page such as Campaigns, click the download icon above the table, then Download, then PDF. The other formats are Excel CSV, TSV, XLSX, XML and Google Sheets. You get a table of numbers.
- Classic dashboards: under Campaigns > Insights and reports > Dashboards, build cards with scorecards, charts, tables and notes. The entire dashboard downloads as a PDF file. Google says a card limit exists but does not give the number.
- Manager account Reports page: download formats include .pdf, and scheduled reports are stored there.
- Report Editor is different: its help page names .csv and .xml downloads. Use a statistics table or a dashboard when you need a PDF.
How to get a PDF out of Data Studio
Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio; Google renamed it on 2026-04-16) gives the most layout control of the free options. Download a report with Share > Download. Two options, Expand tables (up to 2,000 rows) and page numbers, are Data Studio Pro features. You can also schedule an email with the report attached as a PDF; the free plan allows one delivery per day per report. The rest of the scheduling routes are in our guide to automated Google Ads reports.
How to get to PowerPoint
Google Ads has no PowerPoint download. Data Studio's only slide feature, Generate Slides, needs a Data Studio Pro subscription with Gemini turned on. It creates a Google Slides file in your Drive and inserts the report charts as images, with a text summary per chart. Its help page does not mention PowerPoint. Of the reporting platforms we checked in October 2026, none showed a native PPTX export on its public pages; check the vendor's page if you need one.
The practical routes to a PowerPoint deck:
- Download the statistics tables you need as XLSX or to Google Sheets.
- Build each chart in Excel or Sheets from that data, with the period and the results column in the chart title.
- Paste the charts into your PowerPoint or Google Slides template, one message per slide.
- Type the numbers in each slide headline from the same sheet, so a reader of one forwarded slide still sees the period and the source.
- Alternative for Data Studio Pro users: generate Google Slides with Gemini, then edit the deck. The charts arrive as images, so a later data fix means generating again.
What a client-ready Google Ads PDF contains
A PDF is read alone, often on a phone, and often weeks later. Order the pages so the first page answers the client's question and the later pages hold the evidence. A hypothetical order for a monthly report:
- Cover line: client name, account, period, comparison period, results column and extraction date.
- Summary: three to five sentences with the numbers that matter most and one decision for the client.
- Key metrics: cost, conversions, cost per conversion or Conv. value / cost, each with the change against the comparison period.
- Campaign table: one row per campaign, sorted by cost, with the same columns as the key metrics.
- What we changed and what happened: dated changes from change history, with the result labelled as a fact or as a possible cause.
- Next actions: what you will do, what the client must approve, and when you will report on it.
- Notes: tracking changes, conversion lag on the last days of the period, and anything excluded.
Write slides that survive being forwarded
A deck gets split up. One slide ends up in a board pack without your speaker notes. Put the key facts on the slide itself.
Before (hypothetical): Conversions trend. After: Conversions fell from 120 to 96 in September vs August (Conversions column, booked calls only). Most of the drop was in the non-brand campaign, where the budget was cut on 9 September.
Check the file before you send it
- Open the exported file itself, not the source report. Exports move page breaks and shrink tables.
- Compare total cost, clicks and conversions on the first page with Google Ads for the same dates and time zone.
- Check every chart title has a period, and every number has a unit or currency.
- Read the smallest table on a phone. If you cannot read it, split it or cut columns.
- Search the file for another client's name. Templates copied from one client to the next carry old logos and notes.
- Name the file with client, period and version, for example harbour-dental-google-ads-2026-09-v1.pdf.
- For a deck, check that charts pasted as images match the final data. A pasted image does not refresh.
Where KeySend fits
KeySend makes PDF reports only. It does not create PowerPoint (PPTX) files, Google Slides or any editable deck.
The Export is a PDF of one Ad Account or one Campaign for the last 7 or the last 30 days, with the name, logo and accent colour you set as Branding. It holds the Update in plain English, Metrics with sparklines, Recommendations with their Finding, a Campaign table, trend charts marked with Account changes and Follow-ups, and Deep check charts. The Export is in English, or Romanian for a Romanian User. You download it and send it; KeySend never sends it to a client.
If your client needs a deck, use the KeySend PDF as your checked source and build the slides with the route above. Copy the headline numbers and the plain-English explanation from the Export, and keep the PDF as the record.
Other limits to check first: Google Ads only, no calendar month or custom date range, up to 5 Ad Accounts per $49 per month Subscription (plus tax), one User and no client portal. KeySend reads the Ad Account and never changes campaigns. For a wider comparison of tools, see the Google Ads reporting software buyer's guide.
